The “Waste Hierarchy” classifies waste management strategies according to their desirability. The term ‘3 Rs’, or ‘Reduce-Reuse-Recycle’, has also been used for the same purpose. The waste hierarchy has taken many forms, but the basic concept remains the cornerstone of most waste minimization strategies. The aim of the waste hierarchy is to extract the maximum practical benefits from products and to generate the minimum amount of waste.
